PORAC -- Second District Board Member Edna David has been holding a series of hand washing demonstrations and distribution of soaps and alcohol-based sanitizing products to schoolchildren here as a precautionary measure against Influenza A (H1N1).
According to David, they started the campaign at Saint Francis Learning Center in Barangay Cangatba here. The said school is among the biggest schools in this town.

She said they are drumming up an awareness campaign among private and public schools here.
“We could see that media and government are concentrating on public schools. Here, we are looking on both private and public schools. The concern here is to make hand washing and the information drive fixed in the consciousness of the pupils and students,” David said.
David also distributed soaps and alcohol-based sanitizing products for the use of school children and their teachers. She even reminded teachers that such supplies should be used constantly and not to be put on display.
David, who chairs the provincial health committee, said the health drive is part of the continuing effort to promote good health practices within school premises.
She added that various Rotary Clubs here have also confirmed their intention to partner with her to bring the campaign to remote and far-flung barangays of Pampanga.
“We are set to visit other schools, particularly schools in barangays that are known to be poor and could not afford certain health products for their schools,” David said. (IOF)
